I’m Rodrigo Guerrero. I keep the books for small businesses across the Hawaiian Islands.

Gold doesn’t come out of the ground finished. It goes into a crucible, and the heat separates what’s real from what isn’t. What’s left is pure enough to build with.
Books are no different. Most of the ones I open look fine from across the room. Put them under a little heat and the problems rise to the surface: a sale counted twice, a loan that never gets smaller, a checking account that says it’s $700,000 overdrawn when the bank says it isn’t.
I work through every account until the numbers are true. Then we build on them.
I’ve been on your side of the desk. I ran a restaurant, and I know the feeling of staring at a bank balance with no idea where the money went. No one should have to run a business that way.
